Physical activity is a general term used to describe doing everyday activities the active way! Increasing physical activities not only increases the number of calories you burn, but also reduces the chances of some diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and others.
Below are a few suggestions for increasing your physical activities in your daily life, whether you’re at home, at work or out:
At Home
1. Do the housework yourself, at least on the weekends.
2. Stretch to reach items in high places and squat or bend to look at items at floor level.
3. Keep exercise equipment repaired and use it.
4. Stand up or walk while talking on the phone.
At Work/Out
1. Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
2. Brainstorm while walking.
3. Join a sports team or purchase a gym membership.
4. Schedule exercise time on your business calendar and treat it as any other important appointment.
5. Walk down the hall to speak with someone rather than using the telephone or email.
6. Park further away and walk to your destination.
7. Stretch every once in a while.
